PAGANS IN ISLAM
Pagans is the designation for the person who committed the sin of shirk. The word itself comes from the Mword shirk syarikah or communion, which ascribe or make a counter-law or teaching other than teaching / law of God. Shirk is the morality that goes beyond the limits of rules and contrary to the principle of monotheism is to serve, submissive, obedient knowingly and voluntarily on something teachings / commands apart from the teachings of Allah.
In Islam, Shirk is the sin that can not be forgiven except by repentance and abandon idolatry far, far away.
Polytheism personally conducted by following the teachings of Allah besides ajaran2 knowingly and voluntarily (to justify shirk in hearts, run it in action and seek to establish or maintain the teachings of shirk).
Polytheism social / communal (congregation or nation) is described in a letter Ar-Rum/Roma 31-32:

So fanaticism class / sectarian broken to pieces by the teachings of the great God is idolatry because it involves human beings socially, among others, by creating a flow or group as opposed to the sources of Islamic law (Qur'an and the Hadith) for the purpose of interest groups and create their own rules itself (which is based on the interests of the group). This condition causes the disintegration of the inter-human, if it happens that there is peace peace false, so that the will of God in man can not be realized because of the chaos.
